Culinary Creations 101

Entering K-3 Grade
Week 3: 6/25-6/29

Learn to cook yummy summertime snacks and meals! Learn the culinary arts from our very own JCC staff as we cook the best food around and then lunch on our own creations (in addition to our own lunch from home). You will also get to create a cookbook of food we cooked, and learn healthy eating habits and kitchen safety.

Please bring a light lunch with you every day. We will be eating our own creations but campers also still need to bring their own lunch!

* Please note: For Culinary Creations 101, campers have the option of either participating in cooking all day, or doing cooking only in the morning and then filtering into traditional day camp in the afternoon. (For campers entering kindergarten, the half-day cooking option is required — all campers entering kindergarten, who sign up for Culinary Creations 101, will participate in cooking in the morning and then filter into traditional day camp in the afternoon.) When you sign up for Culinary Creations 101, please specify if you would like the half-day cooking/half-day traditional option, or the full-day cooking option. Regardless of which option you choose, you will still get to participate in daily swimming in the JCC’s heated outdoor pool!

Cooking Olympics

Entering 1st-6th Grade
Week 5: 7/9-7/13
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Extended care outside regular camp hours is available for an additional fee.

Prepare and eat delectable foods from around the world, as you learn to make appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Monday through Wednesday we’ll split into teams, competing and voting on which country’s dish wins. Thursday and Friday will be the championship rounds as we will remake the voted-on recipes and have a panel of judges come in and determine who has the best dish.

Please bring a light lunch with you every day. We will be eating our own creations but campers also still need to bring their own lunch!

We also participate in daily swimming in the JCC’s heated outdoor pool.

Chopped: Camp Shalom Edition

Entering 3rd-6th Grade
Week 7: 7/23-7/27
Time: 9:00am – 4:00pm

Extended care outside regular camp hours is available for an additional fee.

Just like on the “Chopped” TV show, each day we’ll take a mystery ingredient and turn it into a meal. Campers will created a daily menu applying their own imagination and creativity, using a unique and surprising ingredient of the day. Campers choose one of three menu options to prepare, using that day’s ingredient.

Please bring a light lunch with you every day. We will be eating our own creations but campers also still need to bring their own lunch!

We also participate in daily swimming in the JCC’s heated outdoor pool.
