Yeledim helps prepare children from the transition from preschool to kindergarten. Discover what it means to be a BIG KID at Camp Shalom. Our compassionate staff understand that this can be an exciting and challenging transition for some campers. The Yeledim day includes a designated time for transition and relaxation after lunch.

Yeledim campers swim every day, including two days per week of organized lessons with certified swim instructors. Campers also enjoy a special event once a week while the bigger kids are away from camp on field trips. The special event could be a puppet show, a special guest, a Yeledim carnival, or one of many other surprises!

Every week of Yeledim has its own special theme, with themed activities. See the list of themes below.

Yeledim is for campers who will be entering kindergarten in the fall. “Yeledim” means “kids” in Hebrew.

Our outstanding aquatics facility and staff allows campers to enjoy and explore the water safely under close supervision of Red Cross Certified lifeguards.

For Yeledim campers, two days per week consist of organized, instructional swim, led by certified swim instructors. The rest of the week is spent playing in the pool for open swim. Campers will be swim checked for safety and to ensure proper instruction.

  • 100% camper participation is encouraged but not required (an alternate activity will not be provided).
  • Campers who choose not to swim will spend time supervised in the shaded areas of the pool deck.
  • Pack a swimsuit and towel every day.
  • Shoes must be worn to and from the pool. Campers can pack sandals for this purpose.
